Layout and Design
Here are seven ways to make certain your designs are selling!
Warning! Don't ignore these simple design elements ...
Every successful and well-designed marketing piece has
these seven elements in common.
We know them
our designers know them
and our freelancers know them too.
And, we want our clients to know them so that they can judge our work according to some established criteria.
You see, we are professional artists and designers. We like to be critiqued
and our work must stand the harsh reality not of a classroom or in a gallery but out on the street in the real world of advertising.
What we design must not only be attractive but it has to sell.
So, our marketing materials have to:
(a) catch the eye
(b) keep people reading
(c) encourage them to action
We know that 10-15% of your potential audience are non-readers. They've told us so in research that was recently completed by the American Library Association ...
Another 10-15% are avid readers
and about 70-80% are skimmers. To be effective our designs must appeal to
the skimmers.
So, to do that we measure seven major elements when we design your marketing materials.
They are:
1. Headlines and Titles
2. Photos
3. Captions
4. Short body text
5. Numbers/Outlines
6. Non-photographic art
7. Graphic devices
And, to make certain that your marketing materials are as efficient and effective as they can be, we go through a 27-
point checklist before each piece goes out the door to you.
So if you have questions about how to make certain your designs are going to work this helpful check-list will be invaluable to you.
If you'd like us to check a current marketing piece that you are using and measure it against our formulas and checklists for success
we would be happy to do so.
Just contact us and we'll schedule a good time to get together.
You'll be glad you did.
The designs this group does are not only functional - they really work with the different target audiences."
